The wee bean went for her "one-year" (remember, she should
only be nine months) developmental screening at the big hospital in Syracuse
on the day before Thanksgiving.
They don't want to see her again! In a nutshell, she's
right on track developmentally -- maybe even a little *advanced* in some
areas.
-
Her gross motor development is great; she's sitting, crawling,
and pulling herself up with the help of chairs and coffee tables. She's
also starting to "scoot" down the coffee table -- look out Jon & Amy!
-
She recognizes her name, looks at "mommy" and "daddy" when
she hears their names, didn't look for the kitty (a trick question) but
did look for "Penny" -- the dog -- when the nurse asked "Where's Penny?"
-
Her fine motor skills (pinching, holding, clapping blocks
together) are also great.
-
She chatters a lot, but is not really using "words." The
nurse is a firm believer that she is experiencing a growth spurt of sorts
in motor development, and that verbal skills may be on the back burner
for a little while.
-
She's getting into the "copycat" mode. As a matter of fact,
I think Amy's new favorite saying is "Abby do."
Abby also cut her first top tooth over the weekend. And
she was amazingly good-natured through all of the traveling and holiday
activity! Even when she stayed with Nana & Pop Ryan while Mom &
Dad did the Santa thing.
A special "thank you" to Bunny & Thos, big fans of
Abby (and the web site) who babysat on Wednesday night so Mom & Dad
could have a little fun with the Bean's godparents.
Here are some of the photos we took on Thanksgiving, including
the official "Baby with Drumstick" shot.
Miss Thing seems to be about to issue an order to
someone!

It's a hot game of peek-a-boo...
