Camp Ryan is open!
The family compound survived the winter, little worse for wear...

Here's the Ryan Family on Jon's 34th birthday
(his age is spelled out, more or less, in Roman Numerals).

Conor seems to be losing his drawers... or maybe his low-riders just complete the backwards ball cap look.
Too bad it's a NASCAR hat from Aunt Cheryl in North Carolina!

Abby amused herself for hours with the Easter craft set we brought. Uncle Eric helped her group her illustrations into 4 books which she narrated, titled:
"Mickey & Minnie - Best Friends"
"Mickey's Egg Hunt"
"Animal Day for Mickey"
and
"Two Butterflies' Journey"

Abby asked Uncle Eric to play her favorite game, "Sack of Potatoes," in which she curls up in a blanket and he carries her around. Naturally, Conor wanted to play, too.
When he was all wrapped up in the blanket, he was kind of quiet, so Abby got up close and asked, "Conor, are you OK in there, buddy?"

After dinner, we toasted marshmallows outside. It was really fun!

An Abby Story

You  may recall that last year, one of Abby's favorite toys was a bug house with a built-in magnifying glass for up-close observation.

She captured a caterpillar, which she named Fuzzy, who turned into a butterfly.

A few days ago, as the weather got nicer, she wondered aloud if Fuzzy (the butterfly) would come back this year!

* News Flash * Abby has her first dance recital on Saturday. We hope to have some photos of her in her cool, colorful costume!

A Conor Story

Since Jon was going to be helping to open Camp Ryan this weekend, and not around for Mother's Day morning, they decided to celebrate a little early.

Amy takes Abby to her dance lesson on Wednesday nights, so Jon picked up Conor at daycare and prepared to wrap Amy's presents. He said, "Now Conor, this is a surprise, so don't tell Mommy," to which Conor replied, " 'tay, Daddy."

As soon as Amy & Abby walked in the door that evening, Conor was on the run, shouting, "Surprise, Mommy! Flowers!"
