Abigail Update
Friday, January 23, 1998
Nana and Pop Ryan just got back from spending a few
days with Abby.
Everyone is just wonderful!
Abigail (and Mom and Dad) are glad to be at home together. According to Mom, Abby is sleeping a lot and keeping to a pretty reasonable schedule. She eats every three hours, and her "awake time" is from about 7:30 p.m to 10:30 p.m. This is great, because by then, Dad's home and can bond with the baby while Mom takes a little power nap!
Also, she's not a fussy baby. As Amy puts it, "We wake her up, feed her, burp her, rock her for 20 minutes and she's out again." And during her awake time, "we play a little, or I put her in her seat or let her look in the mirror and she just hangs out."
The biggest challenge for the new parents is getting her diapers off and on again quickly, so she doesn't pee on the changing table.
The baby had a bath today, and Amy noticed that when she
stretches out her legs, she is almost too big for her preemie outfits.
Little Abigail is now 17 3/4" long, and 5 lbs. 4 oz. She is gaining weight
steadily, and taking 55 cc's at every feeding. For those of us who are
cc-impaired -- 60 cc = 2 oz.
