Configuring MacTCP

1. Make sure that your Macintosh (or Powermac) computer has the Control Panel named MacTCP 2.04 or later. You can verify this by looking at the list of Control Panels under the Apple Menu, opening MacTCP, and checking the version number which appears in the lower left corner of the MacTCP panel (see Figure 1 below). Apple started bundling this Control Panel with System 7.5; users of system versions earlier than 7.5 will not find MacTCP present unless they purchased it separately as part of System 7.1 Pro. If you do not have MacTCP, you must obtain a copy before proceding with the installation of the rest of the Internet software. CRISNY cannot distribute MacTCP without a license. You must obtain it by upgrading to System 7.5 or getting it through your local computer dealer or your user group.

2. Included with the software we have provided is a folder called FreePPP, which contains two files called Config PPP and PPP. Copy these files from the FreePPP folder to your System Folder. Config PPP is a Control Panel and should be placed in the Control Panel folder within the System Folder. PPP is a System Extension and should be placed in the Extensions Folder within your System Folder.

3. Open the Control Panel MacTCP. You should see something like the image in Figure 1. Our objective is to configure this Panel.
