What makes CRISNY special?
CRISNY is a not-for-profit community-based computer network. It offers a wide variety of local information through programs to benefit the entire Capital Region. These programs include discounted online space and special assistance to governments, schools, colleges, universities, and social service, cultural and other not-for-profit organizations. Your CRISNY subscription makes possible these public service offerings. Joining CRISNY is your investment in your community's future in cyberspace.
What does CRISNY do?
CRISNY provides the latest computer network connectivity options for browsing and electronic transfer of information. CRISNY is the ideal networking solution for individual users, businesses, institutions, government offices . . . virtually anyone in the area who uses a computer to locate or disseminate information or who wants an efficient means of electronic communication.
What will CRISNY do for me?
CRISNY has been designed to serve as the community's meeting place, as well as an exhaustive resource of local information. It will support ongoing efforts to facilitate regional sharing of resources. Users can browse community calendars, post information about their own organizations and respond to questions and comments from other users. In addition, CRISNY will enable all levels of government to be more accessible to the people they serve, providing a forum for questions, comments and responses.
What services are included in my subscription?
All subscription plans include E-mail, Worldwide Web (WWW) access, Web Space for your own web site, and FTP/FrontPage support to transfer files to and from our servers.
Will I be able to connect to the Internet?
Yes! Every CRISNY subscription provides full Internet access.
What kind of hardware and software do I need to take advantage of all CRISNY and
Internet features?
You will need an IBM-compatible PC or a Macintosh computer and a modem (28.8 up are supported). You will also need a communications package (typically included with your modem) and Internet access software. There are several shareware, freeware and commercial programs available for access.
Where can I go for help when I need it?
CRISNY has been designed to be easy to use and features on-line help, allowing you to ask questions as you go along. Subscribers may also call CRISNY's help desk at (518) 454-5400.
