Welcome from our Club President

Syracuse University alumni have a rich tradition in the Capital District, dating back to the founding of The Albany Alumni Association of Syracuse University in 1901. Three additional clubs were formed in the area, including The Schenectady Alumnae Club (1916), The Schenectady Club of Syracuse Alumni (1917) and the Syracuse University Alumni Club of Amsterdam (1930).

After a period of inactivity, the current Syracuse University Alumni Club of the Capital District was established in 1982. More than 7,000 alumni live in the area and approximately 300 undergraduates from the region attend SU each year.

Activities of the Club include a variety of social, recreational, cultural, educational, and community service events throughout the year. The Club also supports the Hugo J. Gentilcore Memorial Scholarship-named after one of the Club's founders-which provides financial assistance to a Syracuse student from the Capital District each year.

  • New Officers
     New officers were recently elected by the board! We thank outgoing president Jason Brooks for a wonderful three years! New president Don Ingram has some large shoes to fill!
  • Capital District Officer Wins Award
     We are pleased to announce that our own President and board member Don Ingram is the 2005 recipient of the Eggers Award! Congratualtions, Don!

  • SU Represented Well at Ballpark
     Eleven SU alums attended Alumni Night at the ValleyCats, one of the larger alumni groups to attend the joint alumni outing! They were treated to a pitcher's duel, as Aberdeen defeated TriCity, 1-0.
  • 2005-06 Membership Application
     The 2005-2006 Membership Application form is online! Use this form to join the club or to renew your membership. Go to the membership section to download a copy!
  • Online Dues Payment Coming Soon
     We are still hoping to have an online payment system through PayPal set up on this site! Stay tuned!
  • Thank WGY For Broadcasting SU Sports
    The Capital Region’s News Talk Radio 810 WGY interrupted their regularly scheduled programs this year to broadcast every Orangemen football and basketball game.  While they sometimes receive complaints from listeners of regularly scheduled shows, they don’t often hear from SU supporters.  If you appreciate the fact that 810 WGY broadcasts SU sports, please thank them by contacting programming director Greg Foster by calling (518) 452-4807, sending an E-mail through a form on their website at: www.wgy.com/email  Be sure to tell him you are an SU alum living in the Capital District!
