- Objective:
- This class allows the campers to communicate with Korean friends living in Daegu,
Korea. They have set up their own Web site with pictures as well.
- Facilities:
- Campers will use 18 computers in the Sage College computer lab. The Korean
counterparts, who applied as volunteers to the YMCA, Daegu, will use Kyungpook
National University's computer lab. Professor Sam Myo Kim and his graduate students in
the university will help writing and interpreting the contents from the campers. The chat rooms
will be served by the Internet ToolZone, a free chat service.
- Class Structure:
- Two senior color groups will simultaneously participate in this program for
one hour. The next hour will be allocated to other two senior color
groups. Since Korean counterparts have to chat with campers at night (from 9:00 PM),
the campers are allowed just two hours total.
The class will try to cover these topics, as well as others.
- Introduce the campers and their counterparts.
- Ask about school life. For example, how long do you study at school? What kind
of subjects do you learn? How do you make friends at school?
- What about after school life? How do you spend time after school? Is there
any extra school work?
- How do you celebrate holidays such as Thanksgiving day, New Year's day, Easter or Buddha's
Birthday, or other holidays?
- What about your summer? Do you have any plans for the summer?
